Program Info: Students have the opportunity to strengthen their expertise in four areas of concentration--Park and Open Space Planning, Park Law Enforcement (NPS-Seasonal LE Training Program), Environmental Education and Interpretation, or Outdoor Leadership. There are further opportunities to gain certification in outdoor leadership (Wilderness Education Association National Standard Program for Outdoor Leadership), wildfire fighter, search and rescue and a variety of other skill areas.
Career opportunities include Park Ranger, Park Manager or Superintendent, Outdoor Recreation or Park Planner, Resource Management Specialist, Park Interpreter or Environmental Educator, and a host of related professional positions. In addition, the program provides opportunities for selected students to participate in the federal Student Career Experience Program (SCEP) with the National Park Service, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
