Pharmacy is a field always in demand, stable, lucrative, and highly rewarding on a personal level. Choosing Pharmacy as a college major will lead to becoming a “Doctor of Pharmacy”. This can be a 6-7 year total track that will lead the student from a freshman to a fully licensed pharmacist. The true key to success is looking for colleges with strong “Pre-Pharmacy” programs.

2011 marks the 42nd Year of the APhA Academy of Student Pharmacists (APhA-ASP). Currently, more than 30,000 student pharmacists from each of the 101 schools and colleges of pharmacy nationwide are members of APhA.

APhA has enriched the careers of more than 60,000 of your peers who have gained a professional advantage by having access to our highly respected resources, programs and tools. All pharmacists in all practice settings have a home at APhA. We have the solutions and support you need to practice pharmacy the way you always intended - providing quality care to your patients.

APhA-ASP has played a key role in helping students navigate through pharmacy school, explore careers in pharmacy, and connect with others in the profession.

The APhA Academy of Student Pharmacists unofficially began in 1921 when students from the University of North Carolina petitioned the APhA Council to be recognized as an APhA student branch. Since then, the student section of APhA has gone through a steady evolutionary process. After the first student branch was recognized, many other schools and colleges of pharmacy began to form their own student branches.
