WHAT IS IDSA
The Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) is the voice of the industrial design profession, advancing the quality and positive impact of design. IDSA creates value through publishing Innovation, the quarterly of industrial design practice and education in America; organizing a joint national conference and education symposium each year, hosting five district conferences annually; conducting the annual International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) in conjunction with BusinessWeek magazine; providing

statistical research studies on professional practice and the structure and financing of consulting and corporate design organizations; speaking for the industrial design community to federal agencies and state governments and testifying before congress on design-related issues; serving as the primary information resource for national newspapers, magazines and television networks; sending the designBytes e-newsletter, the world’s best weekly news source on design; and acting as a clearinghouse for design information requested by the general public.

IDSA Individual Student Membership
Students may join IDSA for a set dues rate per year as individual members; this membership entitles them to receive Innovation, Design Perspectives, designBytes, studentBytes and access to IDSA’s online “members only” searchable database. They are eligible to attend IDSA meetings and purchase IDSA publications at member prices. They do not need to attend a NASAD-accredited school or be studying industrial design.

IDSA currently has more than 50 student chapters at accredited colleges and universities, as listed at http://www.idsa.org/absolutenm. Members of IDSA student chapters are eligible to attend IDSA meetings and purchase IDSA publications at member prices.
