Program Info: The Animal and Nutritional Sciences program prepares you for a variety of career options – graduate work, professional school, commercial agriculture, and the food industry. Within the program, you can choose one of two degree paths - Bachelor of Science in Agriculture or Bachelor of Science. The Bachelor of Science in Agriculture track prepares you for careers in food and animal-related industries while providing background in basic sciences, agricultural economics, agronomy, food science, and animal management. You’ll also have the opportunity to take classes in nutrition, physiology, breeding, and genetics.
Considered a pre-professional program, the Bachelor of Science track prepares you for professional schools of veterinary medicine, human medicine, dentistry, optometry, pharmacy, or graduate school in biological sciences. Gain extensive knowledge in chemistry, mathematics, physics, biochemistry, and modern concepts of biology. The Pre-Veterinary Medicine program gives students opportunity to meet the academic requirements for entry into professional schools of veterinary medicine. West Virginia has agreements with Auburn University, University of Georgia, and Mississippi State University Schools of Veterinary Medicine for reduced tuition for West Virginia residents.
