Toledo, OH
Department of Music
The University of Toledo offers areas of study in general music, music performance, music history, music education, and music theory, including a special program in jazz studies. No matter which program you choose, you'll study with faculty members who are expert teachers and performers, giving concerts on campus and around the world. As a music major, you also can take part in the Rocket Marching Band, the University Symphony Orchestra, Men's and Women's Chorus, Vocalstra (a vocal jazz ensemble), and more.
As a music major, you will learn, rehearse and perform in the Center for Performing Arts, which features a recital hall with seating capacity of 280, two large rehearsal rooms, three classrooms, 21 teaching suites, 30 practice rooms, a state-of-the-art electronic music studio/MIDI Lab, and a piano lab. Concerts for large ensembles take place in Doermann Theatre, located in University Hall, one of the main, iconic buildings on Main Campus. And you'll benefit from being in a thriving arts city — there's the Toledo Opera, Toledo Ballet, Toledo Symphony, Toledo Jazz Festival, and more.
