Environmental Science

Program Info: Tied integrally to the mission of Green Mountain College, the Environmental Studies Department is one of the largest and most diverse programs at the school. E.S. majors have done everything from working as tour guides and educators with parks and nonprofit organizations, to environmental journalism, to constructing windmills and studying other forms of alternative energy, to working to set environmental law and policy.

Our College farm, run by students, has a two-acre market garden, an assortment of gregarious livestock, a unique rotational-grazing program, an extensive composting system in conjunction with dining services, and a greenhouse powered by sun and wind. Located at the south end of campus, the farm permeates the entire community.
