Program Info: Ranked No. 1 in the nation for nine straight years
The interior design program at the University of Cincinnati (UC) has been ranked No. 1 in the nation for the past nine years. That No. 1 ranking comes from annual surveys of professional firms and design organizations (the people who do the hiring) and is conducted annually by DesignIntelligence, the journal of the Design Futures Council.
What sets UC’s design programs apart is, among other things, the required cooperative education component. UC is the global founder of what’s commonly known as “co-op,” the practice that requires students to alternate quarters or semesters in the classroom with quarters or semesters of professionally paid work. UC’s co-op program is ranked in the nation’s Top Ten by U.S. News & World Report, and design students at UC routinely graduate with about 18 months of real-world professional work experience on their resumes – work experience garnered from around the globe – work experience that makes UC grads very attractive to employers.
