Parks and Recreation Management
The B.S. in Parks and Recreation Management (PRM) provides an interdisciplinary education in the management of parks, protected areas, community-based recreation services and special event management. The B.S. in Parks and Recreation Management also offers a concentration in Therapeutic Recreation, which is designed for students who have an interest in providing therapeutic interventions and adaptive recreation services. The curriculum combines classroom instruction with field experiences and covers parks and recreation policy, programming, planning, management, communication, inclusive services, and history. All PRM students are required to complete an internship as their final semester, giving them the opportunity to gain practical experience in the parks and recreation professions. This degree program is accredited by the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA).
The PRM program prepares students for professional positions in variety of public, private, and nonprofit organizations. Our graduates have found employment in city recreation and parks departments, county and state park agencies, federal natural resource agencies, sports venues, special event management, youth agencies, and hospitals.
