Engineering is the amazing discipline behind all the cars, bridges, robotic arms, airplanes, large machinery, waste treatment plants and almost everything you see that moves or processes. True engineers aren’t just good at math; they love to build and must understand the real applications of the math in whatever they build. If you tinker with cars, make the jump to designing them. If you love machines, learn what actually makes them run.

Theta Tau Engineering Fraternity |
|
Founded at the University of Minnesota in 1904, Theta Tau is the largest (as well as the oldest) professional fraternity in the field of engineering. Over 30,000 have been initiated over the years. With emphasis on quality and a strong fraternal bond, the Fraternity has chapters only at ABET accredited schools, and limits to seventy the number of student members in its chapters across the nation.
Theta Tau follows carefully a program in the selection and development of its members that stresses the importance of high professional ethics and exemplary practices. Within each chapter, the Fraternity stimulates professional activity, community service, and social compatibility; provides a framework for group participation in campus, community, engineering, and fraternity affairs; and promotes lasting friendships - a lifetime of brotherhood in an engineering environment.

The Fraternity presents awards for outstanding personal and chapter achievements. Through visitation from national officers and other alumni, the stability of each chapter can be maintained. Guidance and publications are provided by the Central Office to help manage the chapter in a professional manner.
The Theta Tau Alumni Hall of Fame recognizes those Theta Tau members who have achieved great success in their chosen careers or for great service to the Fraternity. Of the over 30,000 initiated into Theta Tau, fewer than 100 have been so honored to date. They include leading individuals in the fields of business, climatology, construction, defense, education, engineering, industry, law, manufacturing, research, science, and much more. They are proof that an engineering education does truly and fully prepare you for any future life endeavor.
 |
Through regional conferences and national conventions, there is an annual opportunity to associate with fraternity brothers (students and alumni) from chapters across the nation, to exchange ideas with one another, and to share one another’s successes. |
The Theta Tau Educational Foundation was established in 1998 to further the scholastic and leadership goals of our members. Since inception, it has provided over $25,000 in scholarships to members across the country. The Foundation currently sponsors several of its own scholarship as well as maintaining permanent scholarship funds endowed by Iota Beta Chapter, Sigma Chapter, George Kalv, Al Kurtenbach, and Simon Ramo.
As importantly, over 1,000 student members have completed either the 1-day or 3-day leadership training curricula that has become the signature event of the Foundation. The 3-day Leadership Academies have been held at Ohio State University, Ohio University, Washington University in St. Louis, Vanderbilt University, and Chicago’s University Conference Center.
Theta Tau builds balanced engineers, and the Theta Tau Educational Foundation creates dynamic leaders.
